“Wow…your soap is so good…you ought to sell it!”
If I had a dollar for every time someone said that to me, I would never have had to start my own soap making business. But I didn’t…and so I did…and it was a great experience. It wasn’t easy, but it was rewarding, profitable, and fun.
That’s my story, and the personal story that Elin Criswell tells in her new book Bubbles to Bucks: How to Make Money Selling Soap. In addition to her own personal soap making business story, she shares the stories of many other soap makers. The book is part how-to, part resource list, part sharing of stories. I wish that I had had a guide book like this when I was starting my own soap business. It would have helped me to ask the questions, develop the plans, and avoid a few of the pitfalls that any small business owner faces.
